Louise O’Hara – Artist Research

Mixed media artist based in a small village in Cheshire, using vintage fabrics, typewriters, sewing machines, thread, hand painted papers and books she creates these nostalgic almost 3D illustrations with so much character and texture.

She uses a combination of mixed media layered surfaced, paper clay, wax with fabrics and various machines to her work which then convey messages of nostalgia. The collage and stitch work holds the different layers together but also as a tool for drawing and using a soldering iron.

below are images of her work sourced from her website http://www.drawntostitch.com/

Using fabrics and things like buttons and thread i can enhance my watercolours further by giving them a certain folk arty texture and a sweet look.
